I believe with everything within me, that most of the destructive actions in our lives are created out of hearts that are living in unending emotional pain. Emotional pain that is present because - for most of our lives - we live separated from God’s tangible presence!
Each of us are born into this separation. And whether we believe in God or not, we still feel His absence. Isn’t it true - we often struggle and feel alone, afraid, unprotected, unneeded, unwanted, and unloved? And as a result of this “God void” in our lives, and the emotional pain it produces, all of us at some point tend to look for some sort of “God substitute” to fill the emptiness! What do I mean?
As a child, you and I looked to our parents. As a teenager, to our friends. Most of us as young adults - to a husband or wife. Later we look to jobs or careers, and children. Even our religion. And for a few of us…to a ministry. But no matter the source we choose - we are forced to face the fact that none of our “God substitutes” have the ability to fill our emptiness!
And why is that? Because only God can fill the human void of unlove! And then only when He is tangible in our lives!
But the truth? Sadly, for most Christians - God often still seems distant, elusive, and hard to hear. …As if He were playing some heavenly game of “hide and seek.” …Isn’t that true?
My commitment to YOU? …To help destroy any distance you might feel right now in your own life between what God has promised you - and the reality of the difficulty you feel every day in your own world!

Born on the “caprock” in the southwest city of Lubbock, Texas, in December of 1951, Rod grew up in a conservative Christian home. …Being only one of two children, he was taught by example that life without God was not something to ever be considered.
But despite his upbringing, and having become a Christian at twelve - at sixteen years old, now disillusioned and cynical…Rod rejected and walked away from his childhood faith to become an agnostic.
“For me? …Christianity had over-promised, and under-produced. And as a result, there just wasn’t enough proof of change that I saw in the lives of other Christians, nor in my own life, to convince me that God existed!”
Yet three years later, now worn down by the “reproof of life” , alone and in the back of a church in Lamesa, Texas, Rod miraculously experienced the presence of God in a tangible encounter.
And then a month later, while in his car driving back to Lubbock, Rod again heard God clearly ask him to change the course of his life, and come “love and minister to the saints”. …Within a month Rod was enrolled as a theology major in a major Bible University.
But only a few years after leaving the university, and having pastored a church for 5 years in Oklahoma - now broken and burned out, Rod resigned the pastorate disillusioned and lost!
The truth - hidden from everyone, Rod had struggled with two dark secrets since childhood – alcohol abuse and immorality!
“For all of those years I was searching for a way to escape! I hated who I was. I didn’t want to be that person! But there were just no answers! The world taught me how to cope. And yes, Christianity promised much more. But for me? Nothing worked! All I found were platitudes, promises, and empty phrases. But no relief. …No relief.”
Now mentally and emotionally struggling with the reality of who he was, Rod was determined to hide and never again be involved in any form of ministry leadership!
But 15 years later…on the side of the road outside of San Antonio, Texas - after decades of dealing with his secret addictions - God now revealed the hidden door that so long ago Rod had unknowingly opened into God’s tangible presence!
The torment was over! 30 years of addictions ended! The curse forever broken! …And the son that was once lost - was now home in the tangible presence of God!
And with the return of this “prodigal”, Through the Storm ministries was born in October 1997!

As a result of these life experiences and the “Life Message” placed within Rod’s heart by God, it is now Rod’s passion and that of Through the Storm to present a practical, God-tangible working gospel to Christians worldwide! Working to help those lost in the difficulties of life to now discover the power of God’s presence to live in His peace, love, faithfulness, joy patience, and righteousness!

1954…born in a strict Catholic home, as one of six children raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Kathy’s heart was always searching for God’s care. Retreating to the isolation of a convent at 13, she would wrestle with a decision of whether or not to live a life separated from the world. But after only two years, Kathy realized that those outside her haven needed someone to help them find the love of God more than she needed the safety of the convent.
And so with a voice that God gifted, blended with a spirit that cried for those in need, Kathy began a ministry that would take her into every major city across America and internationally around the world.

Now for almost 50 years, Kathy has traveled nationally and internationally singing with a desire to help people know God intimately.
“When people come to hear me sing they come for different reasons. Some are there just for the music or the ‘show’. Others because they desire to do what I’m doing. And then some come just because they are desperate to feel someone cares about them.”

In all of the years of my ministry, I have never written a letter asking any pastor to prayerfully consider having another minister come to their church to speak. I am going to break that tradition today!
Years ago, Rod Pruitt, as a burned-out pastor, came to work for me. …He was a minister who had vowed to himself that he would never be in his own public ministry again. And keeping that vow, for over fifteen years he labored faithfully within my own ministry.

…On safari in South Africa filming the documentary "Zulu - Bound by Blood". A movie on the effect of Malcolm Smith’s blood covenant message on the Zulu tribes. Wrote the script, created the storyboards, picked the shots, filmed and directed the talent (even myself), and back home edited, produced, advertised and promoted. (I remember one night north of Durban, South Africa the generator caught fire underneath the table I was standing on filming! Flames all around me!) Never worked harder! ...Nor enjoyed it more!

We were in the Old City, in the Muslim Quarter, in the Cotton Merchants’ Market, when a vendor invited us to come back to his home to talk about Jesus! Wow! Does it get any better than that? (He also dressed us up, and tried to sell us everything he could! lol)
